“Echorouk†pays homage to the Algerian squad coach Rabah Saadane
Rabah Saadane
The Algerian squad head coach Rabah Saadane along with his assistant Zahir Djelloul were yesterday invited to “ Forum Echorouk†and honored by the newspaper’s top manager Ali Fodhil as an acknowledgement for the enormous services that the dean of the Algerian coaches has rendered for the Algerian football in general and the Algerian squad in particular across his long and successful career.
-
RAbah Saadane seized this opportunity to talk about the match opposing the Algerian team to the Egyptian side in “Tchaker” stadium, Blida ( 40 Kms far from Algiers) slated for June 7 counting for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers. He also put the stress on the other fixtures on the agenda of the Algerian squad to book their ticket for the 2010 African and World Cup of Nations competitions.

I believe in victory even against Barcelona
-
-
The coach has declared that he was always playing for victory regardless of the reputation of the opposing side “ In Football there must be a winner and a looser, as I’m concerned I always play for a win especially when it deals with crucial matches, because I posses a strong line-up that can beat any other side even Barcelona. I always insist on the psychological preparation of the players and lift up their spirits to clinch victory at last… I’m optimistic as to the upcoming match against the Egyptian side, but I’m also realistic and cannot foresee the future”.
-
-
We have to accept defeat and be fair-play
-
-
Rabah Saadane further added that the problem of the Algerian fans lies in the fact that they do not accept defeat and react negatively when their favourite team or national squad lose “ We cannot convince the fans overnight to avoid throwing objects on the pitch when their teams lose, and I do believe that the role of school and family is outstanding to impart in the future generations the fair-play spirit… Marseille fans is a perfect example to follow since they didn’t show any animosity towards their club despite a defeat at home against Lyon, missing thus an opportunity to become a champion; likewise for the Champions League semi final opposing Chelsea to Barcelona when the referee omitted to give a penalty to the British club but nothing happened at the end”.
-
-
The coach denied having picked up the players who will face the Pharaohs on June 7 saying that it was inappropriate to talk about the line-up because one has to analyse the situation inside out before taking a final decision.
-
-
We will set our goal after the match against Zambia
-
-
As to whether the head coach has defined the future goals of the Algerian squad between the African Cup and the World Cup competition, this one replied that he will see clearer after the away matches, i.e. after the match against Zambia.
-
-
He went on saying that he has well prepared the next fixture against assuming all the probabilities, including a scenario where the Algerian squad have to play with 10 players, because in such strenuous matches it’s a probability which is not to exclude.
-
-
I’m experienced enough to deal with the Pharaohs
-
-
Rabah Saadane has declared that the experience garnered across his career is sufficient to make him deal with the Egyptians, adding that he experienced the “best” and “worst” with the “Greens” making of him the fittest coach in such circumstances.
-
-
As to the return match against Zambia, Rabah Saadane replied that the fixture will be extremely tough “ We will face Zambia during the holly month of Ramadan, but we will try to overcome this obstacle thanks to the players strong will”
